US Customs and Border Protection Raises Global Entry Fees by 20 Percent

As of October 1, 2024, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has increased the application fee for Global Entry from $100 to $120. This 20 percent hike affects not only Global Entry but also the NEXUS and SENTRI programs, which will now cost $120 each to apply for or renew.

The new fee structure aims to harmonize the costs across these trusted traveler programs, which provide expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers entering the United States. An exception to the fee applies for minors under 18, who can use Global Entry for free if their parent or guardian is already a member.

The application process includes a non-refundable fee, and applicants must undergo a background check and an in-person interview to be approved. Despite the higher fees, many travel credit cards will continue to cover the cost of Global Entry, making it a worthwhile investment for frequent international travelers.
