Iran’s Missile Barrage Against Israel: Sky Team’s Close Encounter
On October 1, 2024, a Sky News team found themselves directly under the flight path of Iran’s missile barrage against Israel. The team was positioned near the Israeli border with Syria and witnessed the intense aerial battle between Iran and Israel.
The Sky team described the scene as streaks of orange crossing the sky, followed by balls of fire drifting up in the opposite direction. The missiles were so high that they were barely audible, but they kept coming in multiple waves from the direction of Iran.
Israeli air defenses were active, intercepting many of the missiles, but some managed to penetrate and continue deeper into Israel. The action was taking place high in the sky, and as a result, sirens in the surrounding area were not activated.
After an initial wave of missiles, there was a sudden calm until another fireball was spotted, indicating that Israel’s air defenses were in action again. The second wave of missiles seemed smaller, and the team watched as interceptions erupted far above their heads.
The missile onslaught stopped suddenly, but a few minutes later, a siren began wailing to warn of a rocket attack fired by Hezbollah in Lebanon, prompting the team to seek shelter.
