Rural and Urban Voters in Crucial Swing State Alarmed by Violent Political Rhetoric

Voters in rural and urban areas of crucial battleground states are expressing concern over the increasing level of violent political rhetoric. In Central Pennsylvania, Fox News Digital spoke with several voters who highlighted the impact of charged political discourse. Marsha Peterson, co-owner of Peterson’s Grocery Outlet in Wakefield, noted that the left has been portraying former President Trump as a danger, leading to heightened tensions. She emphasized the affordability crisis as a major issue affecting both her and her customers.

Sam, a retired artist, also expressed his concerns about the political climate. He stated, “Especially people and politicians saying [Trump] is a threat and he needs to be taken out and stuff like that. That’s just totally wrong. So something’s got to change.” Sam and his wife are supporting Trump, citing the need for change in their community.

Tim Gochenaur and Michelle Williams from rural Christiana shared their concerns about the political rhetoric inciting violence. Gochenaur said, “They’re inciting these people. Somebody might be off a little bit to start with and that pushes them in that direction.” Williams emphasized the importance of electoral fairness, stating, “The way that the laws are put in place, it’s meant for integrity. And that’s a founding principle of our country — for there to be an appropriate and proper vote.” However, if this integrity is not carried out, then it will not be a fair election.

Minister Fifty, a resident of Harrisburg, highlighted the need for decency in political discourse. He said, “Common sense tells us, of course, it’s having an effect — any type of unsavory communication is never going to be helpful. So when we resort to things other than the issues and then we get animated in a dark way toward other people or non-issues, then things get clouded and things get deflected and then we lose sight of what the true goal is.” Minister Fifty believes the election will indeed be fair, calling the national structure “too big to fail.” Lisa, a proud “Black lady for Donald J. Trump,” emphasized the importance of maintaining a blessed attitude and adhering to the golden rule. She advocated for more tolerance towards the other side, stating, “Both sides can really use just more tolerance towards the other side.” Pam Hower, a former Republican, noted that Trump’s rhetoric has hurt many people, particularly with claims about migrants eating pets in Ohio.
