Paris Fashion Week: Highlights from the Spring-Summer 2025 shows
Functionality took center stage this season, with designers incorporating elements like zippers, straps, and utility-inspired details into their designs. Junya Watanabe’s collection featured garments inspired by trekking and climbing gear, showcasing futuristic and sculptural silhouettes.
Christian Dior’s collection centered on sports, celebrating performance and athleticism. The show included a recurring nod to antiquity, with artist Sofia Ginevra Giannì (Sagg Napoli) shooting arrows across the runway.
Chanel’s show was notable for its absence of a creative director, with the in-house team crafting a collection filled with delicate embroidery and intricate work. The collection celebrated “delicacy, lightness, and movement,” showcasing sheer capes, layered tweeds, and skirts with slits, fringes, and sequins.
Saint Laurent ventured into darker themes, presenting a collection that celebrated femme fatales reminiscent of retro thrillers. The show featured oversized suits, plunging blouses, and sheer, form-fitting outfits.
Other notable highlights include Louis Vuitton’s collection, which was inspired by Nicolas Ghesquière’s decade-long tenure at the brand, and Balenciaga’s show, which began with trompe l’oeil lingerie and skin-toned embroidery paired with bomber jackets featuring corset detailing.
