MSNBC’s Steele Claims Trump’s the One Not Doing Media as GOP Ticket Does 3x More Interviews Than Harris-Walz
MSNBC analyst Michael Steele has criticized Democrats for putting pressure on Vice President Kamala Harris to step up her media appearances. He argues that Harris is being unfairly treated compared to her 2024 opponent, former President Trump. According to Steele, Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, have sat down for at least 63 interviews since the Harris-Walz ticket was formed, compared to only 23 non-scripted interviews for the Democratic presidential ticket thus far.
Steele also pointed out that Trump has held five formal press conferences since the beginning of September, while Harris has not held a formal press conference since replacing President Biden as the Democratic nominee. This disparity has led some Democrats and media critics to warn that Harris’ cautious media approach could backfire with voters who are expecting more engagement from their candidates. Harris campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz defended the campaign’s media strategy, stating that their focus is on ensuring her winning vision reaches undecided voters through a combination of media appearances, campaign events, and aggressive organizing.
