Israel Vows Severe Response to Iran’s Missile Attack

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised a severe response to Iran’s recent missile attack, which saw over 200 ballistic missiles fired at Israel. The attack, which occurred late on Tuesday, was in retaliation for Israel’s campaign against Iran’s allies in Lebanon, including Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah’s killing last week.

Most of the missiles were intercepted by Israeli air defenses or allied air forces, but there were reports of two people lightly injured by shrapnel in Israel and one Palestinian killed in the occupied West Bank.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that 90% of the missiles hit their targets, while Israel said it had intercepted many of the projectiles. The US, which assisted in Israel’s defense, described Iran’s action as an “outrageous act of aggression” and warned of “severe consequences”.

Israeli officials, including Netanyahu, have vowed to make Iran pay for the attack, with Netanyahu stating, “Iran made a big mistake tonight and will pay for it.” The US and Israel are currently discussing a joint response to the attack.

The escalation comes after Israel launched targeted ground raids into south Lebanon, which has led to further conflict and humanitarian crises in the region. Lebanon’s health ministry reported additional casualties from the latest Israeli strikes, bringing the total number of deaths since the conflict began to over 1,800.
