Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Hiding with Extra Security Following Hezbollah Leader’s Death: Report

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has moved into hiding and remains at a secure location within the country, sources told Reuters. The decision came in response to Israel’s strikes outside Beirut on Friday that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander Abbas Nilforoushan.

Khamenei has been in constant contact with Hezbollah and other regional proxy groups to determine the next step after Nasrallah’s death. He has pledged revenge for Nasrallah’s death and emphasized that Hezbollah is at the forefront of resistance against Israel.

The Israeli military confirmed that Nasrallah was killed in a strike on Hezbollah’s central command headquarters in Beirut’s southern suburbs. This move has heightened tensions in the region, with Iran considering the possibility of infiltration by Israeli agents, including Iranians paid by Israel.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian partially blamed the United States for Nasrallah’s killing, given that Washington has been providing weapons to Israel. The incident has thrown the already-volatile region into the most dangerous phase of the conflict, with both hardline and moderate leaders in Iran differing on the appropriate response.
