Intel is a security risk for China, says influential industry group

The Cyber Security Association of China has called for a cybersecurity review of Intel products sold in China, citing recurring security flaws and elevated rates of malfunction. The association, backed by the powerful Cyberspace Administration of China, accused Intel of allowing built-in backdoors in its chips for years, compromising user safety and posing a significant national security risk.

Intel’s products were identified as posing several risks, including frequent security vulnerabilities, poor reliability, disregard for user complaints, and unauthorized monitoring through remote management features. The association warned that these issues jeopardize network and information security, recommending a comprehensive cybersecurity review to safeguard China’s national security and the legitimate rights of Chinese consumers.
