Hamas Praises Iran for Attack on Israel to Avenge Three Men
Hamas has praised Iran’s missile attack on Israel, saying it was a “heroic” attempt to avenge the deaths of three men. The group mentioned the deaths of Nasrallah, Ismail Haniyeh, and Nilforushan in their statement.
Nasrallah was the leader of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, known for his fiery oratory and significant influence in Lebanon. He was considered an arch-enemy of Israel and had deep alliances with Shia religious leaders in Iran and Palestinian militant groups like Hamas.
Ismail Haniyeh was a prominent member of Hamas and widely considered the group’s overall leader until his reported death in July 2024. He was a popular figure within the Palestinian national movement, even among those opposed to Hamas’s ideology.
Nilforushan was a prominent general in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, serving as the deputy commander for operations. He was described as “courageous” and martyred in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut.
