Fox News Power Rankings: Harris Loses Her Lead and a New Electorate Emerges

Vice President Kamala Harris has seen a slight decline in her support following the first debate, while former President Donald Trump has also experienced a slight drop in his numbers. According to recent polls, Harris is now at 50% and Trump at 48%, a shift that mirrors the post-debate dynamics from the 2020 election. This change could pose a challenge for Republicans, as Trump’s support did not narrow the polling gap created by the first debate until his stronger showing in the second debate four years ago.

Harris’s improvement in the polls comes primarily from independents, who previously backed Trump by eight points but now prefer Harris by 12. This shift could give her an edge on election night, especially if she maintains this lead among independents.

The Senate is also seeing significant changes, with Republicans poised to take at least 51 seats on election night. The latest forecast predicts Democrats will take at least 47 seats, leaving two races in the Toss Up category. Montana has shifted from Toss Up to Lean R, with Republican candidate Tim Sheehy leading incumbent Democrat Sen. Jon Tester by 6 points in an AARP poll.

The gubernatorial cycle has also seen a significant development, with North Carolina Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson facing intense scrutiny over past scandals. This has led to a decline in Republican support and a shift in the governor’s race from Lean D to Likely D.

Voting has begun in 21 states, including Wisconsin, North Carolina, Minnesota, and Virginia. The election is heating up, with both Harris and Trump intensifying their outreach to Black men, a crucial demographic. Harris has unveiled an “opportunity agenda” aimed at addressing challenges faced by Black men, including providing 1 million loans to Black entrepreneurs and reforming the criminal justice system.
