Biden’s Private Complaints About Democrats’ Shift in Focus
President Joe Biden has privately expressed his concerns to allies about how quickly the Democratic Party has moved on from him, according to recent reports. The NBC News report states that Biden has mentioned to his allies that his name and accomplishments have virtually disappeared from the national conversation, especially as Vice President Kamala Harris has distanced herself from his policies and forged her own political identity.
Biden has noted that Harris hasn’t been mentioning him in her campaign speeches, particularly when discussing the economy, which he believes his policies have positively influenced. This has been a source of frustration for him, despite his understanding of the political rationale behind shifting campaign messaging away from his record.
White House spokesperson Andrew Bates has denied these claims, stating that they are “the polar opposite of the truth.” However, sources close to Biden have confirmed that he still wants Harris to win and is committed to supporting her, acknowledging that his legacy rests on her success.
