Bath and Body Works Apologizes for Selling Candles Resembling Ku Klux Klan Hoods

Bath and Body Works has stopped selling a candle that was emblazoned with a winter theme, which many commenters online compared to a Ku Klux Klan hood. The label on the “Snowed In” candle featured an artistic paper snowflake, but numerous users on social media drew comparisons to a controversial symbol. Following the backlash, the candle has been removed from both Bath and Body Works’ online store and physical outlets.

In a statement to CNN, the company informed that the design was not intended to cause offense. A representative remarked, “At Bath and Body Works, we prioritize feedback from our teams and customers, and we are dedicated to rectifying any errors we make, even those that occur unintentionally.” They added, “We sincerely apologize to anyone who felt offended and are promptly taking steps to eliminate this product while we assess our procedures for the future”.
