This Helmet Could Help Stop Hair Loss During Cancer Treatment

The Lily helmet, developed by Luminate, is designed to prevent hair loss during chemotherapy by applying even pressure across the scalp, blocking chemotherapy drugs from reaching hair follicles. Initial trials have shown a 75% success rate in retaining patients’ hair, with some patients maintaining a full head of hair even after undergoing up to 12 chemotherapy sessions.

Luminate is also developing a product called Lilac, a glove and boot set designed to reduce chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, another painful side effect of cancer treatment. The company aims to bring cancer care into the home, reducing the need for hospital visits and making treatments more accessible and comfortable.
