President Macron Enters the ‘Emily in Paris’ Debate

President Macron Wades into ‘Emily in Paris’ Debate

French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his strong desire to keep the Netflix series ‘Emily in Paris’ filming in Paris. In an interview with Variety, Macron stated, “We will fight hard. And we will ask them to remain in Paris Emily in Paris in Rome doesn’t make sense,” in response to the show’s plans to feature Emily (played by Lily Collins) moving to Rome in the upcoming fifth season.

Macron’s stance is partly driven by his wife, Brigitte Macron, who made a cameo appearance in the show’s fourth season. He believes that ‘Emily in Paris’ is beneficial for France’s image and has positively influenced the country’s attractiveness.

The mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, has responded to Macron’s comments, suggesting that Netflix’s production decisions are not influenced by political pressure. Gualtieri emphasized that Rome is happy to have the show filmed there and that it confirms the city’s growing importance.
