Elon Musk and Other Billionaires Invest Staggering Sums into Electing Trump, Plus Other Takeaways from Third-Quarter Filings

Elon Musk, the richest person in the world, has contributed $75 million to his pro-Trump super PAC, America PAC, between July and September. This donation marks his first significant financial support for the organization, which has been actively mobilizing voters in potential swing states like Pennsylvania.

Miriam Adelson, a conservative donor, has also made substantial contributions to support Trump’s campaign. She donated $95 million to Preserve America, a prominent pro-Trump super PAC, during the same period. Another significant donor, Richard Uihlein, contributed around $49 million to Restoration PAC in the third quarter.

The total combined donations from these three billionaires—Musk, Miriam Adelson, and Uihlein—amount to approximately $220 million over the past three months. These contributions highlight the significant influence that a select group of billionaire megadonors has on Donald Trump’s campaign as he strives to surpass his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump’s campaign committee raised $145 million in the third quarter and began October with nearly $53 million in its accounts. The committee has been covering traditional campaign expenses such as facility rentals and travel event costs, allowing it to allocate more resources toward advertising against a better-funded opponent.

The Senate Leadership Fund’s financial disclosures also revealed contributions from major donors to Republican candidates and causes. Miriam Adelson contributed $5 million to the fund in the third quarter, raising her annual total to $15 million. The Congressional Leadership Fund, the primary super PAC supporting House Republicans, raised over $81 million in the third quarter.
