Biden-Harris Admin Warns Israel Over Gaza Humanitarian Aid, Leaked Letter Reveals

The Biden administration has issued a stern warning to Israel regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza. A leaked letter from Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to Israeli officials demands immediate action to enhance the volume of humanitarian assistance entering Gaza within the next 30 days. Failure to comply could result in Israel jeopardizing its access to U.S. military funding.

The letter, intended as a private diplomatic communication, expresses deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza. It specifically criticizes recent Israeli actions, such as halting commercial imports and denying nearly 90% of humanitarian movements between northern and southern Gaza in September, which have accelerated the deterioration in conditions.

Israel has been urged to reverse the downward humanitarian trajectory by allowing at least 350 aid trucks to enter daily and implementing humanitarian pauses in Israeli military actions. The U.S. has emphasized that these measures are necessary to maintain eligibility for foreign military assistance under U.S. law.

The letter highlights that since assurances made by Israel last spring, the amount of aid delivered to Gaza has dropped by 50% in September, the lowest amount of aid delivered in any month since the war began. The U.S. has repeatedly called for increased aid to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and this latest letter aims to tackle the ongoing issue by reiterating the urgency and seriousness of the situation.

An Israeli official acknowledged receipt of the letter but did not disclose its specifics, confirming that the U.S. has expressed “humanitarian concerns” and is exerting pressure on Israel to expedite the delivery of aid into Gaza.
