Obama Tells Black Men It’s ‘Not Acceptable’ to Sit Out Election

Former President Barack Obama has been actively campaigning in Pennsylvania to boost support for Vice President Kamala Harris. During his visit to Pittsburgh, he delivered a stern message to Black men, urging them to participate in the election and not sit out.

Obama criticized those considering abstaining from voting or supporting former President Donald Trump, who has a history of belittling communities. He emphasized that supporting a woman in the presidency is not a justification for not voting, and that such behavior does not demonstrate strength but rather diminishes women.

Obama’s comments come as recent polling indicates a potential decline in support for Harris among Black men. However, Harris maintains a significant lead over Trump among Black Americans overall. The NAACP poll revealed that 26% of Black men under 50 plan to support Trump, while 49% favor Harris.

Obama’s visit aimed to address the lower enthusiasm for Harris among Black men and to inspire voter turnout. He highlighted Harris’s dedication to policies that uplift Black communities, such as affordable housing and healthcare, and contrasted her with Trump’s lack of respect for communities and individuals.
