Lachlan Morton’s Historic Cycle Around Australia

Lachlan Morton is on track to easily break the record for the fastest lap of Australia, beating David Alley’s time of 37 days, 20 hours, and 45 minutes set in 2011. Morton has been cycling for over a month, covering more than 8,800 miles (approximately 14,200 kilometers) and facing fierce headwinds, extreme weather conditions, and perilous traffic. He has been riding for up to 17 or 18 hours each day, pausing only to rest, eat, and mentally regroup before beginning the cycle anew. By Saturday, Morton will conclude his extraordinary test of endurance and determination, returning to Port Macquarie, located four hours and 15 minutes north of Sydney.
