One Change in Social Media Use Improved Mood
Recently, CNN reported on a significant change in social media use that positively impacted mood. Zach Kornfeld, cohost of the podcast ‘The TryPod,’ shared that he replaced his habit of checking his phone first thing in the morning with a game of pickleball. This change significantly improved his mood in the mornings.
Following Kornfeld’s example, another individual decided to refrain from opening any apps until after taking their dog for a walk. This decision led to a positive shift in their mood, with the individual feeling less unease and dread in the mornings.
Dr. Pamela Rutledge, director of the Media Psychology Research Center, explained that participating in real-world activities and feeling a sense of control over one’s choices can significantly impact one’s mood. She noted that starting the day with positive emotions can enhance resilience, productivity, openness to new experiences, and overall demeanor.
