German Prosecutors Seek 15-Year Jail Term for Madeleine McCann Suspect in Separate Rape Trial

German prosecutors have called for a 15-year prison sentence for a man who is also under investigation in connection with the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann. The man, identified as Christian B., is currently on trial in Braunschweig, Germany, for sexual offenses committed in Portugal between 2000 and 2017. He is accused of two rapes and two cases of sexual assault, with prosecutors advocating for his conviction and preventive detention following his sentence.

Prosecutor Ute Lindemann described Christian B. as a “dangerous psychopathic sadist” and emphasized a “high degree of certainty” that he would re-offend. The defense is scheduled to present its arguments on Monday, October 7, with a verdict anticipated the following day.

Although Christian B. has not been formally charged in the McCann investigation, he is being examined for potential murder involvement. He lived in Portugal for several years, including the area of Praia da Luz, around the time of Madeleine’s disappearance in 2007. He has consistently denied any connection to the case.
