At least six dead after strike on Beirut
At least six people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on a central Beirut medical center, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. The strike, which occurred early on Thursday, also left seven people injured. This attack follows a particularly lethal day for the Israeli military on the Lebanese front, with eight soldiers killed in ground engagements with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military confirmed that they were aiming at Beirut and issued evacuation alerts for multiple sites throughout the night. The strike targeted a medical establishment affiliated with Hezbollah-linked Health Organisation, marking the second air raid on central Beirut within the same week.
Iran’s launch of over 180 missiles into Israel has left the region on edge, with Israel vowing to retaliate. U.S. President Joe Biden indicated he would not endorse an Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, as he sought to manage the swiftly intensifying regional conflict.
