Heavy Strikes Continuing in Southern Beirut

Israeli airstrikes have continued to target Hezbollah sites in Beirut’s southern suburbs, with at least five strikes reported early Wednesday, according to a Lebanese security source. The Israeli military has stated that these strikes are aimed at Hezbollah targets and have issued several evacuation orders in the area.

Lebanese emergency responders have reported the recovery of 25 bodies and the rescue of 13 injured individuals since 8 PM the previous day. Local accounts indicate that at least 600 individuals have sought refuge in a monastery located in Rmeish, a town on the Israel-Lebanon border.

The escalation in violence follows Iran’s missile attack on Israel, which included approximately 180 missiles fired towards Israeli territory. Most of the missiles were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed the missile launches were in retaliation for the killing of Islamist leaders Ismail Haniyeh, Hassan Nasrallah, and Abbas Nilforoushan.
