Atlético Madrid Player Diagnosed with ‘Traumatic Brain Injury’ Following Real Madrid Clash
Atlético Madrid defender Robin Le Normand has been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) with subdural hematoma following a head collision with Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni during Sunday’s La Liga derby. The incident occurred in the final minutes of the 1-1 draw at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
Le Normand, 27, received immediate medical attention on the field and underwent a series of tests and assessments by specialists. The diagnosis confirmed that he suffered a severe head impact, resulting in a subdural hematoma, which is bleeding between the brain and the skull.
Atlético Madrid has stated that they will adhere to the guidelines outlined in the protocol established for this type of injury before clearing Le Normand to return to play. The club has ruled him out of their upcoming Champions League match against Benfica in Portugal and their La Liga clash with Real Sociedad on October 6.
