Biden Celebrates Jimmy Carter’s 100th Birthday

President Joe Biden has honored Jimmy Carter ahead of his 100th birthday, praising him as “a moral force for our nation and the world.” Biden shared a heartfelt message, saying, “You’re a voice of courage, conviction, compassion, and most of all, a beloved friend of Jill and me and our family.” Carter, who has been in hospice care since February 2023, is marking a historic milestone as the first former U.S. president to reach the age of 100.

Celebrations for Carter’s birthday have been ongoing, including a star-studded musical event at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, which raised funds for international programs of The Carter Center. The event featured performances by several artists and included appearances by celebrities and other former presidents via video.

Carter’s 100th birthday will be celebrated in Plains, Georgia, with a military flyover, local musicians, and a naturalization ceremony for 100 new U.S. citizens. Despite his advanced age, Carter remains keenly interested in politics and plans to vote in the November election by mail-in ballot for fellow Democrat Kamala Harris.
