**Thai farmer forced to kill more than 100 endangered crocodiles** after severe floods in northern Thailand damaged the enclosures at Natthapak Khumkad’s farm, raising the risk that his herd of three-meter (10-foot) Siamese crocodiles could escape and endanger human lives. The owner, Natthapak, electrocuted the animals to prevent them from escaping and causing harm to villagers and livestock.
Heavy monsoon rains in the northern province of Lamphun triggered floods and landslides, killing more than 20 people. Despite efforts to find a temporary shelter for the crocodiles, Natthapak’s request was rejected due to the large size of the animals.
Siamese crocodiles are critically endangered in the wild but are widely bred in farms across Thailand for their skins. The decision to euthanize the crocodiles was made to prioritize public safety, as the animals could have posed a significant threat if they had escaped.
