31 Days Away from Election Day: Here’s Where the Race Stands
With just 31 days left until Election Day, the presidential campaign remains highly competitive. Former President Donald J. Trump is set to return to Butler, Pennsylvania, to rally supporters after a previous campaign event was interrupted by an assassination attempt. Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit areas of North Carolina severely impacted by Hurricane Helene and will participate in a fundraising event in Cleveland.
The latest polls indicate a tight race, with Harris leading in Michigan by a single percentage point and in Wisconsin by two points. In Ohio, Trump holds a six-point lead among likely voters. The hypothetical outcome in the Electoral College could be Harris 270, Trump 268, marking the narrowest modern U.S. presidential election in terms of electoral votes.
The campaigns are intensifying their efforts, with Harris focusing on the ‘Blue Wall’ states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, while Trump is directing his efforts towards the Sun Belt states of Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia. Early voting and mail-in ballots are already underway, with participation expected to be lower than during the 2020 pandemic election.
Former President Barack Obama plans to campaign for Harris in battleground states, including a stop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, next Thursday. Prominent figures like former Rep. Liz Cheney are also endorsing Harris, aiming to attract moderates and independents.
